Aleana Savage

Aleana is a Master's student studying how bats differ across urban-rural gradients. She has previously worked with bats in Missouri, on projects collecting biological samples and acoustic tracking, and is excited to now be applying that experience to her own project! When not catching bats, you can find her hiking with her dog, canoeing (also with her dog), and trying new restaurants (she loves a dog-friendly patio).

Current Undergraduate Students

Brad Bateman

Brad is an undergrad studying Wildlife Biology while gaining experience in field study and research in preparation for graduate school.  He also enjoys gardening, baking, climbing trees, reading and working as a math tutor.

Josey McChesney

Josey is an undergraduate researcher in the lab who is studying bat behavior as a part of her undergraduate honors thesis. Josey's interests include behavioral and physiological ecology, hiking, kayaking, reading, and learning new things.

Oscar Peterson

Oscar is an undergraduate freshman studying wildlife biology. He is interested in gaining research and field experience, especially in preparation for graduate school.

Carly Trujillo

Carly is an undergraduate who became interested in gaining more research experience in biology. Carly became interested in wildlife research after attending a seminar on bird migratory and reproductive timing.

Joy White

Joy is an undergrad researcher in the lab who is interested is in community dynamics in aquatic macroinvertebrates. She is evaluating the impacts of stream restoration initiatives on these communities for her undergraduate honors thesis project. Bats love these insects too, so we're excited to see what she finds! Joy also enjoys cinema and participating in various performing arts.

Former Students

Claire Robertson

Claire helped in the lab her senior year of undergrad, interested in gaining more laboratory and programming experience in biological research. She had previously done fieldwork with bats through her experiences in environmental consulting. Claire presented her undergraduate research at the annual meeting of the Midwest Bat Working Group. We're lucky that Claire still often joins us for fieldwork and paper discussions!
